The Embassy of India organized a dinner interaction for leaders and members of AAPI and GWAPI at the Embassy in Washington D.C. on 27th March, 2015. American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) is the largest Indian American organization representing over 100,000 physicians of Indian origin in US. Bringing together US Congressman Chris Van Hollen (Democrat-Maryland) and the leaders and members of AAPI and GWAPI, the event showcased the strength of Indian American community in strengthening the India-US friendship. Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Charge d'Affaires, Embassy of India addressed the guests on the various facets of the India-US relationship and highlighted the ‘people to people’ connections as the centre piece in the relationship. Ambassador Sandhu recognized the leadership of AAPI and GWAPI and their significant role in strengthening the India-US strategic partnership. Congressman Chris Van Hollen (Democrat-Maryland 8th District), Ranking Member of House Budget Committee also recognized the critical role played by AAPI and GWAPI community in the development of state of Maryland. Delegate David Ramadan (Republican- Virginia) and Delegate Janak Joshi (Republican- Colorado) also participated in the event.
