Date of Birth: 18 December 1966

Education: Master’s Degree in History from Delhi University

Joined Foreign Service in 1993

1995-1998: Second Secretary (Political) in Moscow

1998 – 2000: Consul General of India in Vladivostok

2001- March 2004: Consul for Press & Consular Affairs in Indian Consulate in New York

April 2004 – June 2007: Deputy Secretary / Director in the Americas Division in Ministry of External Affairs.  Was part of the negotiating team for the India-US nuclear deal and dealt with nuclear, space, defence and high-technology cooperation. 

July 2007 – July 2010: Counsellor at the Indian High Commission in Colombo incharge of Commercial, Economic and Development Cooperation.  Was part of the delegation for negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and helped erect the architecture for development cooperation between India and Sri Lanka following the end of civil conflict in that country.

August 2010 – May 2013: Deputy Chief of Mission to the Indian Mission to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg.  During this period, served as Charge d’ Affaires from January-September 2012.  Was closely associated with building cooperation with EU in Counter Terrorism, Cyber Security and other security related spheres.  Was closely involved with the negotiations for an India-EU Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA). 

June 2013 – September 2014: was Joint Secretary heading the HR & Management Affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs

October 2014 – April 2015: Head of the Division in Ministry of External Affairs dealing with relations with Western European countries.

April 2015 – June 2017: Appointed Head of the Policy Planning Division of the Ministry of External Affairs with a mandate to build it into an institution required in the context of India’s growing global engagement. A number of bilateral, regional and global dialogues such as the Raisina Dialogue, The Gateway of India Dialogue, and several track 1.5 bilateral and trilateral dialogue mechanisms were established during this period. 

Since July 2017, joined work as Deputy Chief of Mission with the rank of an Ambassador in the Indian Mission in Washington D.C.
