Visit of External Affairs Minister to New York for the 64th General Assembly

Today External Affairs Minister led the Indian delegation at the opening day of the General Debate of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly.

EAM called on the President of Maldives, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. They agreed that the defence and security relations of India and Maldives were intertwined. EAM also conveyed that he was looking forward to the visit of the President of Maldives to India in October for attending the Delhi High-Level Conference on Climate Change on Technology Development and Transfer as the Guest of Honour.

In the afternoon, EAM gave a speech at the Council of Foreign Affairs on India-US Relations in the 21st Century. In the evening, EAM attended a reception hosted by the US President, H.E. Mr. Barack Obama.
